Laptop woes in Africa....

Interesting story for IBMer's .....

A team mate had her laptop die here in Kenya.  After much consultation among the technical know how we have right here on our CSC team, it was determined that she needed to go back to Nairobi to see tech support at the IBM Kenya office.  Her motherboard needed to be replaced.

Nairobi is a 3 1/2 hour trip to and 3 1/2 hour trip home.....but back to Nairobi Paula went.

She arrived at the IBM office and was greeted by Odour Odhiambo - Stephen in English.   He took one look at the laptop and said:  " That machine is old - we have no parts here to fix that machine".  All the IBMer's got a good laugh over that comment.

But in true IBM fashion, Stephen was able to get her up and running on another machine.  During the 7 hours she spent with Stephen she learned that three weeks ago when Ginni Rometty was in Kenya to announce the opening of the IBM research lab at Catholic University:

she arrived in Kenya to find her laptop not working.  Stephen had spent the day with Ginni Rometty fixing her laptop..............that's one way to meet the CEO :-)

Odour Odhiambo (Stephen) from IBM Kenya......thanks for helping out IBM CSC Kenya 6 team :-)
