JAMBO!

As a newbie to blogging,  I feel a bit of background is in order.  My day job for IBM involves providing IT support for a major health care supplier.  However, earlier this year I was informed that in less than 6 months I would be embarking on the adventure of a lifetime.  It was with great honor that I learned that I was selected to be part of the IBM Corporate Service CorpsKenya 6 team.   This blog is dedicated to sharing the amazing opportunity that IBM has placed on my journey.  In less than 2 weeks I will be on a plane to Kenya for my 4-week assignment.

Kenya 6 is a team comprised of 12 IBMers from around the globe:  Australia, China, India, and the US.  We have been divided into a subset of three smaller teams.  My sub team will be engaging in work with Multimedia University College of Kenya.  Having a long history in supporting healthcare, I am excited to have the opportunity to provide service in education.  Getting to know my sub-team of 4 has only fueled my excitement about the bigger adventure that awaits!  More on our assignment to come in later blogs…

Tying up loose ends on the home front and figuring out how to make the weight limits with my luggage are all part of the pre-trip fun….especially with a hike of Mt. Kenya on the agenda(how will I ever fit all of the hiking stuff I need into my suitcase)!  But my excitement is hard to contain.   Kenya – ready or not – here I come!
