Catchin' up.....

Sunday was filled with more team bonding....a trip to The Bomas of Kenya(a cultural center with native dance and homesteads from around Kenya).

Some IBM'ers broke loose and learned some local dance moves...........

Others got wild with Pumba....

It was another late night as we all prepared for a our big day on Monday(and jet lag is starting to catch up).  Internet connections can be a challenge, or perhaps it is just a reminder that life and work goes on even when we are not connected 24/7 ;)

A little background on our assignments here:
Our team of 13 was broken down into 3 smaller sub-teams.  Our first "official" work here in Kenya kicks off today(Monday) as we each present our high level roadmap to the clients.
Sub-team one (mine):  working with Multimedia University of Kenya
Sub-team two: working with KEPSA - Kenya private sector alliances
Sub-team three: working with the Ministry of Information and Communications

Although it was a trying day logistically (three different locations for each presentation and Nairobi traffic to boot), happy to report the presentations were a smashing success.  Feedback was excellent and we got out of the gate with a warm welcome from the University.  Professors were eager to learn more about the ideas we presented and our team is more excited than ever about our statement of work with the University.

Off to a great start Team Nyoka! (we named our team after a snake; keeping the tradition of African animal names going but had to look hard to find a friendly looking snake for our mascot  photo:-)

Cheers MMU team - couldn't have asked for a better set of sub-team mates!  Can't wait to take MMU to the next level with this assignment.  Also have to mention one last thing, Team Nyoka is fortunate enough to have the resident Swahili expert, Claudette.  She was a natural for the native language of Swahili....and it comes in handy with the clients :-)

PS:  The sign says "2nd wives hut" - NOTE the second wife had a bigger hut than the first one :-)
